About Us

Future For Felons is a faith based, lobby and advocacy, community organization. We seek to bring change to the unjust and discriminatory laws and policies that negatively affect felons, ex-convicts and ex-prisoners trying to transition back into society.

Future For Felons is an organization that was founded by Minister Ime Elugbe and his family. We want to bring change  locally, nationally and ultimately internationally. We want to bring hope and healing to a people who society has cast away. Although society has cast them away, God has not cast them away. The God of love is also the God of justice.

We are responsible for meeting the needs of the less fortunate, but we are also responsible for challenging the underlying political and social structures that lend themselves to the exploitation of a people.

What we believe

¨ We believe that every human being (victim, offender, felon, non-felon, poor, rich, etc) should be seen through the eyes of God: we are all created in the image of God and so we have a value, worth, dignity and inalienable rights.

¨ We believe that when people commit crimes, they are to be held accountable. However, afterwards, they are to be given a fair chance at rehabilitation. We believe that the offense should be punished but the offender should be loved.

¨ We believe that a failure to protect the rights of the guilty (felons), will endanger the rights of the innocent (non-felons).

¨ We believe in personal responsibility but more importantly, we believe in systemic responsibility as well. We believe that systemic responsibility to a large extent determines and influences personal responsibility. Systemic injustices are worse crimes than individual or personal injustices.

¨ We believe in justice by transformation as opposed to justice by retribution.

¨ We believe that protection of rights should not be piecemealed for political and economic purposes.

We believe that justice should not be used as an instrument of oppression.
